#1 the jap metro

September 9, 2007 at 1:23 am (guys)

Mine (pronounced mi-ne), my Osaka friend, just arrived on friday with his friend Ota (I think this should be the spelling), so today I went to meet them. The day started out slow at Chinatown where we had quite a nice lunch. Feng Rong’s recommendation of the yong tau fu was great. Though the quantity was quite little, it was overall quite nice. At least the shop is quite specialized whereby they only prepare and sell 1 standard dish, instead of those that do all sorts of dishes and can’t seem to master in any. So it was extreme slow touring around Chinatown, with the 2 buying of a few souvenirs here and there.

We finally left Chinatown at around 4pm and proceeded to City Hall MRT because they wanted to go Esplanade and also Merlion Park. Even though the sky was quite cloudy, I would say that we were quite blessed that it did not rain or threaten to rain. Me, Feng Rong and Peiyen did take some 自拍 photos which was quite fun.

Feng Rong’s smile is so radient but she said it’s 假笑。。。

Feng Rong’s smile is always so radient but she said it’s 假笑。。。o_O

At around 530pm, Feng Rong and Peiyen had to leave because they were going to their boss’ housewarming. So the remaining 4 of us (me, Jaron, Ota, Mine) went off to have some coffee at Starbucks then went to Makansutra for dinner. This was when I was informed that 1 more guy was joining us.

Haha before he came, Mine was telling me that this guy is very ハンサム (and Jaron was saying that the guy is very fluent in Japanese). So I was like a bit skeptical about whether his taste can be trusted. So when the guy came I got my answer. He looked quite not bad at first sight, stylish hair (the very jap 乱中有序 kind), slim, not too short/tall, big eyes! And oh my god, his Japanese is freaking fluent! He started chatting with the other guys in Japanese and I started feeling super awkward and like as if I was back in Japan because I don’t understand them at all! Luckily after a while he eventually spoke more English hahaha!!!

Anyway, dinner was quite nice. We had Hokkien Mee, Cha Kwey Tiao, Stingray, Satay and Lime Juice. Stingray was probably the best out of all. I personally don’t really like Hokkien Mee in general because it’s very wet =X So after dinner we decided to walk to Boat Quay to a board game shop which is opened by Jaron’s friend. But before that we went to the Esplanade toilet and after I came out that was when I started noticing more of what the guy wore. Besides his white and baby blue striped Polo Tee, he was wearing this slightly white and black checked pants (which initially I thought was just normal Jeans) and white leather pointed shoes! (his bag looks like the kind of “Art Bag” similar size as those you would use to keep your drawing block in primary school but this is more for A4 documents , which was nearly the same design as Mine’s bag. And he was carrying a long wallet o_O) Wah lao when I actually noticed fully what he really wore I was like quite shocked! So damn stylish and the only too casual thing is his Polo Tee. If he change it to a shirt he will look very posh! =)

So anyway, I found out that he’s a Japanese Studies Major Student from NUS and just got back from 1 year of SEP (Student Exchange Programme) in Keio University (mind you, Japan SEP is freaking difficult to get in!). No wonder he’s still so not used to a lot of things back here: Local Food (ok maybe because he personally doesn’t really like it anyway, he said whenever he goes out with Mine, they either eat fast food or other stuff but not local food =_=), latest chinese songs, etc. Anyway, quite funnily I was telling Jaron that he’s more likely the really 千金 one as compared to Feng Rong and Peiyen (Earlier Jaron made a joke that the 2 were very 千金 maybe because they were both very fair and they woke quite girlish today), because he was like huh-ing when we told him we had yong tau fu for lunch (because he doesn’t like local food) and he was also a bit shocked when he found out that we were going to walk to boat quay =_=. Haha so wth. Anyway on second glance, I think his features are not that nice because he has quite a bit of baby fat on his face, just that maybe because he’s stayed in Tokyo for 1 year, he has kind of mastered the art of making himself look presentable even though he might not be the best looking guy around. (End up he looks more Jap than Mine and Ota =X). That’s what I feel Japanese are really impressive about. They can look really fashionable/presentable no matter how goodlooking they are. Amazing!
